#18 What's Important To Helen Phillips
Today's guest is a nutrition coach, a keen cook and runner and has been running on and off for about 20 years.
She ‘took a break’ from being fit and healthy for about 10 years whilst working all over the world as a stressed out business consultant when she became a self confessed large lady lard-arse.
Inspired by London 2012 she turned her life around. She swapped blocks of cheese and bottles of wine for healthier choices and tentatively laced up her trainers and started to run.
Slow and steady at first, she set her sights on running the Reading Half in 2013. It was an horrendous day … but once wrapped in tinfoil, nibbling a banana and having treasured bling around her neck she knew she was hooked.
Since then she has run countless half marathons and 18 marathons. She has a good for age time to run London and has another 3 marathons booked to run later this year.
She is now a coach, The Cheesecake Runner, and works with runners, who are not typical runners, get then trained, ready and prepared to realise their long-held dreams of running a marathon.
